“So you want to become a fireman?”
Volunteering has many benefits. It not only benefits you, but your community as well. By volunteering at the Union Fire Company you will have the opportunity to help the community in many different ways. No prior experience is necessary, we’ll provide the training. Your help is needed with the extinguishment of fires, investigation of activated alarm systems, providing of care and help with removal of patients at motor vehicle accidents as well as assisting in many other types of emergencies. In addition to helping at emergencies your help is needed with fundraisers like the monthly pancake breakfasts and annual spaghetti dinners. The Union Fire Company also attends community events such as “Splash Day” and various parades.
To volunteer, complete an application from the link below or by picking one up at the fire house, located at 18 New St. in Crosswicks, NJ, then returning it by mail. Your application will then be reviewed by the board of fire commissioners and then will be brought up for vote at the fire company meeting. After being voted in you will be eligible to attend the fire academy (usually 1 or 2 nights a week) and become Firefighter 1 certified. If you have any questions please call or stop by the fire house from 7 AM to 5 PM Mon- Fri. The fire service is like a large family and we welcome you to our family!
