Budget Passes

The Union Fire Company and the Chesterfield-Hamilton Fire District No. 1 would like to thank all of the residents who came out to vote yesterday for their support. The 2012 budget passed with a vote of 38-6 and both Stanely Lewis and Joe Dubell were re-elected to the position of commissioner. Your support allows us to continue helping you.

From the Burlington County Times:

Incumbents Joseph Dubell (42 votes) and Stanley Lewis (40) won three-year terms.

Voters approved a $474,380 tax levy that is part of a $646,299 budget by a 38-8 margin. The tax rate will increase from 9.6 cents to 9.9 cents per $100 of assessed property value. The owner of a home assessed at the township average of $396,500 will pay $392.53 in fire taxes, an annual increase of $11.89.

The members of the Union Fire Company and the employees of the Chesterfield-Hamilton Fire District No. 1 wish to express their deepest sympathies to everyone involved in yesterday’s tragic bus accident. Words cannot explain the pain and sorrow that we feel for all of those affected. We ask that you please keep the Tezsla and the Zdybel families in your thoughts and prayers.

Ryan’s Cup 4 HTFD vs HTPD

Fire District No. 1′s own FF/EMT Brian Clarke will once again be playing for the Hamilton Township Fire Department in the 4th annual Ryan’s Cup charity hockey game. This year the game will be played Saturday March 24th at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton at 3pm. FF Clarke, and the rest of the HTFD Hockey team look to take back Ryan’s Cup from the Hamilton Township Police Department. Last year’s game ended with the HTPD winning their first ever Ryan’s Cup 4-3 in an overtime shoot out.

Tickets are $17 and can be purchased from FF Clarke or online at Ryanscup.org. Each ticket not only includes Ryan’s Cup at 3pm, but also the 7pm Trenton Titans game. All proceeds benefit Ryan’s Quest.

2 MVAs in 2 Days

Quint 2614 was dispatched to 2 MVAs in 2 Days this week. The first one was on 1/9/12 around 11:45am and involved 2 cars and 5 patients at the intersection of Sykesville Rd and Rt. 528. Squad 269 and Squad 339 transported all those involved.

The second accident occurred on Tuesday, 1/10/2012 around 9am. Stations 261 and 262, along with Squad 269 were dispatched to the intersection of Sykesville Rd and Rt. 537 for a motor vehicle accident. Squad 269 arrived first to report no injuries. Quint 2614 arrived and found a dump truck with front end damage and a flat bed tow truck up the embankment under a telephone pole. The tow truck had wires on top of it that were determined to be telecommunications wires and posed no danger. The tow truck was also leaking fuel from a saddle tank that was contained and plugged on scene. Crews secured the pole, and waited for the wreckers to arrive.

FF/EMT-B William Mills

The Union Fire Company and the Chesterfield-Hamilton Fire District No. 1 would like to wish the best of luck to FF/EMT William Mills his new endeavors with Midway Fire-Rescue in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina. FF Mills joined the UFC as a junior member at the age of 16. In May of 2010, he was hired to the career staff full-time by the Board of Commissioners. FF Mills was also elected as a trustee to the fire company. His 4 years of service are much appreciated and he will be greatly missed. Best of luck, and stay safe!
